Welcome to Year 5. Here is some information from Miss Hewitt.

Welcome to 5 Shakespeare! This term we are learning about The Olympics as part of our whole school topic. So far we have compared the ancient Olympics to the modern Olympics. Throughout this topic we will be taking a closer look at this year’s host, Tokyo, Japan. In Science we are focussing our learning around working scientifically, with links to our magnets. In English this term we are enjoying reading Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.

Welcome to Year 5. Here is some information from Miss May.

Welcome to 5 Rosen! This term we are learning about the Olympics as part of our whole school topic. So far we have researched and made comparisons between the Ancient and Modern Olympics. We will learn about key Olympics and what made them special, different host cities and compare life in Japan to life in the UK. 

In science, we are catching up on exploring Magnets- this means lots of practical experiments. We will be investigating magnetic materials as well as making our own compasses. 

In English, we are reading a text called Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo we are enjoying the rich vocabulary which we are applying to our own writing!
