5 Shakespeare
Welcome to 5 Shakespeare
Welcome to Year 5 Shakespeare, I am your class teacher Miss Ryan. In our amazing class we also have Mrs Farmer supporting the children with their learning. The adults in Shakespeare class work hard to ensure all the children are safe and happy at school. This year, we have amazing trips planned and learning opportunities that are fun, practical and engaging so that the children enjoy all their lessons and learn lots along the way! At Oxhey Wood we have an open door policy so please feel free to speak with me before or after school or an alternative is to email catherine.ryan@oxheywood.agoralp.co.uk
No question or query is ever too small.
Autumn 2
This half term, the theme for our learning is Alchemy Island. We will be learning all about maps, diections and physical and human geography including 4 and 6 figure coordinates. In our English lessons we will be writing non fiction guides to treacherous terrains such as deserts, polar regions and rain forests inspired by the Lonely planet guide 'How to be a world explorer'. We will also be reading a mysterious story called the Nowhere Emporium by Ross Mckensie. We will continue swimming lessons every Wednesday and during Monday's PE lessons we will be learning different tennis skills. In our maths lessons we will be learning methods to support formal calculations and in French lessons we will be learning all about pets.
Please continue to read every day. Evidence shows that reading for just 15 minutes a day greatly influences children's progress as they continue through school.
Daily reading, TT rockstars and spelling shed. Speech cup continues every Wednesday. Please practice with your child at home prior to the day they share with their class.
