5 Shakespeare

Welcome to 5 Shakespeare

Welcome to Year 5 Shakespeare, I am your class teacher Miss Ryan. In our amazing class we also have Mrs Farmer supporting the children with their learning. The adults in Shakespeare class work hard to ensure all the children are safe and happy at school. This year, we have amazing trips planned and learning opportunities that are fun, practical and engaging so that the children enjoy all their lessons and learn lots along the way! At Oxhey Wood we have an open door policy so please feel free to speak with me before or after school or an alternative is to email catherine.ryan@oxheywood.agoralp.co.uk

No question or query is ever too small.

Spring 2

This half term, the theme of our learning is 'Home Sweet Home.' We will be learning about our local area, including human and physical features and making links across the ocean in Brazil. In our English lessons, we will be exploring a new book called 'The Boy in the Tower' by Polly Ho-Yen which will involve building suspense and mystery in our writing. We will continue our swimming lessons every Wednesday and during Monday's PE lessons we will be learning skills for tennis again. They will be working individually, collaboratively in pairs and groups practising forehand, backhand and volley shots. In our maths lessons, we will be exploring making conversions, scaling and delving into 3-D and 2-D shapes. In French lessons, we will be learning all about our home.

Please continue to read every day. Evidence shows that reading for just 15 minutes a day greatly influences children's progress as they continue through school.

Daily reading, TT rockstars and spelling shed. Speech cup continues every Wednesday. Please practice with your child at home prior to the day they share with their class.
