British council International award
The International School Award is awarded to schools that have shown a commitment to embedding international awareness and understanding within their class or school and taken part in international activities across the curriculum, including collaborative work with international partner schools and opportunities to involve the wider community.
Our school was reaccredited with the British Council International School Award in 2022. We had previously been presented with this award which lasts for 3 years in 2019. The British council told us 'This is a fantastic achievement for both teachers and pupils at the school and we hope that you continue with your excellent work in bringing an international dimension to teaching and learning.'
To maintain our status as a leading international school, we are currently applying for reaccreditation this school year (2024-25), as our current Award will expire on 31 August 2025.
Watch this space to follow the range of exciting international activities we have planned for the rest of the year. Our newly elected language ambassadors will play a key part in this journey .

International Projects
Following a successful bid in March 2018 for EU funding four Watford primary schools plus two partner schools in Spain were awarded a grant of almost 200,000 Euros to work on an exciting three year international cultural heritage project entitled “Who Do We Think We Are?”. We welcome you to these pages which celebrate our achievements. This began our international journey at Oxhey wood and left a legacy which allowed us to embrace an international ethos throughout the school and through continued participation in the British council international award we have continued to embed it within the curriculum.
Erasmus study Tour
As part of our Erasmus 'Who do you think you are?' project, 30 children from Oxhey wood primary school and Bromet Primary school spent a week at our partner school in Tenerife taking part in exciting trips to Mount Teide, a banana plantation, a wildlife park, a marine centre, a sports competition, a traditional Tenerife cultures day as well as many lessons in the classroom. They had previously built a relationship with their pen pals through letters and postcards.
