As always, we have an exciting and fun packed year ahead of us, with fantastic learning opportunities and school trips.
Check in for updates and photos of what the children are getting up to and their learning experiences at school.
Charlie is our class mascot, named for the famous scientist Charles Darwin, who the children will learn more about over the next year.
Every Friday, Charlie will spend the weekend with someone in the class who has worked hard to follow our school rules.
Please help your child to complete Charlie's diary and return on Monday, where they will have the opportunity to share their experience with the rest of the class.
The children have had a wonderful start to the new academic year. We have revisited our school rules and routines and shared important items from home.
Year 1 have planted daffodils and crocus and snowdrops in our outside area ready to see the first signs of spring in the next term!
This week we have been reading the book Here Comes Mr Postmouse by Marianne Dubuc. We looked at the journey a letter takes and even wrote our own letters to a school, posting them in the letter boxes ourselves!
The children experienced fantastic learning opportunities during Science week; attending a number of science fairs, learning about Charles Darwin, Helen Sharman and making static electricity amongst other things!
This week the children have been learning about capacity in maths. They conducted an experiment to discover which container would hold the most water. Carefully carrying the water in cups and counting as they filled them up, they discovered who had guessed correctly!
