Mother Tongue Day 2024 was a truly fabulous day spent celebrating the wide range of languages spoken by families at our school. The day started for many with a multi-cultural sharing breakfasts and also included parent visitors, cookery sessions and mendhi. The children looked incredible as many chose to come to school in their traditional dress.
International Mother Language Day is celebrated every year on the 21st of February. The aim raise awareness of different languages and cultures.
At Oxhey Wood we had a enjoyed a fabulous day of celebrations which included multi-cultural sharing breakfasts, parent visitors, cookery sessions and mendhi. Some children taught their class to count to 10 in their home language, shared some dance moves and many looked magnificent as they came to school in their traditional dress. We concluded the day with an fantastic sharing assembly.
Year 3 celebrated all things American as part of their geography topic.
Year 6 had a fantastic day at the Lincolnsfields Centre to support their learning about WW2
Inspirational speaker and mountaineer Jake Meyer ran a session with Year 4 to launch their Mountains topic. Jake was the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest in 2005 and he spoke to the children about his incredible experience.
Children in Nursery were delighted to invite their adults to join them at their Christmas party. Lots of fun was had by all!
Children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 took part in an Elf Run to raise awareness and funds for Peace Hospice.
Pupil leaders from each of the Trust school planned and organised Generosity Day, based on the second Agora value: Generosity. Children in each of the Agora schools took part. Have a look at our video and see what we got up to at Oxhey Wood!
Year 4 held a Roman Immersion Day this week. They had a fantastic time making Roman honey biscuits, constructing Roman shields and designing their own Roman- inspired footwear.
