Years 1 and 2 thoroughly enjoyed meeting Emily Gale and hearing about her journey to becoming an author. They were able to ask her questions about her job and where she gets her ideas and inspiration from. She also read them her new book, Mighty Maurice.
The Year 2 nurture group have been growing Daffodils for Mother's Day
Year 3 and Year 4 have been writing their own playscripts this week. Today some of the groups were able to perform them on the stage for their friends!
This half term Year 2's topic is called "Coastal Adventures". The children in the nurture group have made their own sandcastles this week. Aren't they great?
Children across school took part in a variety of activities to help promote a love of books and reading. Staff and pupils came dressed as a word and the day culminated in a "vocabulary parade" in which children came together to share their costumes and the words associated with them. The "secret reader" competition was also great fun! The whole school book for this week was Floella Benjamin's "Coming to England".
We started our Mother Tongue Day celebrations with a French breakfast in each class. We then enjoyed a variety of activities and visitors inspired by the languages spoken by members of our own classes.
